A little bit of regular maintenance and care will ensure a long lasting piece.
Wood is pretty resilient. Trees have been on the planet for… well… a long time. But the daily rigors of usage and not taking proper care of its next purpose isn’t cool.
When it leaves my garage, it has a healthy dose of mineral oil and wax. All 100% food safe. I’ve found my favorite to be Walrus Oil products (special shoutout to my wife’s hometown, Springfield Missouri!).

Re-applying that every few months will keep your piece looking and working just fine. If you’d like, I can buy and ship some with your piece.

Dry them off immediately. Long exposure to water or dampness can cause warping and cracking.
